Why RedZone

Built by people who work fires, not just data.

For more than two decades, RedZone has been at the forefront of wildfire intelligence, helping insurers, businesses, and the communities they serve understand and manage their risk. Because better wildfire decisions ultimately protect more than property. They protect the people and communities behind it.

Built different

25 years of fire science, tested where it counts

Most wildfire companies offer data or field services. For 25 years, RedZone has built its platform on real wildfire experience, not just modeled data. Real-world operations sharpen our models, and our software guides action in the field. The result: earlier insight and smarter action when it matters most.

A partner, not a vendor.

RedZone works alongside underwriting, portfolio management, claims, and catastrophe response teams. During an incident, RedZone can be the voice that keeps policyholders informed. After it, every action taken on every property is documented.

Headquartered in Boulder, CO, with RedZone Canada in Vancouver, BC.

Looking ahead.

Every year, wildfires grow bigger and more destructive, driving record numbers of home losses. That's making it harder for homeowners to get insurance and for insurers to understand the risk they're underwriting.

As wildfire events move faster and hit harder, insurers have had to become more responsive and more innovative just to keep up. Since 2002, RedZone has proactively met the needs of its clients, and is poised to meet the decade ahead.

Sharing what we know is part of that. Our wildfire FAQ answers the questions we are asked most, about fire behavior, mitigation and how insurers assess risk.

The team

Meet the leaders, engineers, analysts, and responders helping to protect your book.

Our team is driven by a core group of software engineers who build the platforms monitoring your portfolio. RedZone impact

RedZone was born from the wildfire community, and service has been part of our mission since the beginning.

While our technology and expertise now help some of the world's leading organizations understand and manage wildfire risk, we remain committed to supporting the firefighters, emergency responders, and communities on the front lines. We believe our responsibility extends beyond the products and services we provide. It means using our people, technology, and experience to give back to the community that shaped who we are.

RedZone is actively involved in the wildfire and firefighting community. Some of our staff volunteer as emergency responders for local Incident Management Teams and make themselves available to respond to disasters in their communities and regions.

Throughout our history, we have built and hosted key technologies provided to the community at no cost. During the 2013 Boulder Flood, RedZone created a free iOS app that allowed local first responders to navigate through the devastating floods that spilled over Boulder Creek and the surrounding watersheds and communities.

In 2023, RedZone partnered with the founders of wildlandfire.com to launch WildfireIntel.org. WildfireIntel.org is a free online forum with more than 10,000 active users, providing a place for members of the fire community to discuss active wildfire incidents, share information, and connect on important industry topics.

RedZone sponsors the Wildfire Resiliency Index, an initiative designed to help communities better understand and improve their resilience to wildfire. The Index looks beyond wildfire hazard to recognize the work communities and homeowners are doing to reduce risk, including defensible space, home hardening, community mitigation programs, Firewise and other recognized resilience efforts. By providing a consistent way to document and measure these actions, our goal is to help communities demonstrate their progress, identify opportunities for further improvement, and ultimately strengthen the connection between wildfire mitigation and insurability.
